Nathan Alan Gilbert---
It all began in the small town of Vanceburg, KY on January 4th, 1983; the greatest bass player in Morehead was born. Speaking of his hometown Nathan recollects: “what Vanceburg lacked in opportunitie, was made up with in inspiration...inspiration to get the heck outta there.” Nathan's high school years consisted of basketball and along the way he picked up learning bass guitar, of which he bought his first from the Lewis County high school's janitor. Bass guitar from then on was to be an important “tool” in his life. After enduring the “hell” known as high school, he then ventured on to bigger and better things, and where did he go you might ask? Why Morehead State University of course. Where all the fruitcakes go. His freshman year, he learned many new pick-up lines to entice the ladies. His favorite is: “So pink is your favorite color?” --Sonya Lange on Nathan Gilbert.Read this plus more tantalizing details in Lange's new book entitled How Low Does/Can He Go? |

From the man himself... Not really much to tell. I graduated high school from Lewis County High in 2001. I feel like I did pretty good formyself during those years. Life in a small town is boring, but like everything else it has two sides. There are some aspects of small town living that can be appealing (I can't think of any off the top of my head.) I don't really think my high school didn't prepare me enough for college. Of course there could have been more classes offered, but they did what they could with what they had. I really enjoyed playing on the Academic team at LCHS. Looking back if there was one more thing I could do more of it would be playing on the AT. |
